Toronto Zoo
The Toronto Zoo, Canada’s largest and premier zoo is an AAZPA accredited institution known for its interactive education and conservation activities. A year round attraction with over 5,000 animals representing 500 species, the zoo is divided into six Zoographic regions: Indio-Malaya, Africa, the Americas, Australasia, Eurasia and the Canadian Domain. The project is formulated to address antiquated and restrictive conditions at the existing animal healthcare facility with the goal of supporting the Zoo’s “vision as a dynamic and exciting center that inspires people to love, respect and protect wildlife and wild spaces.”
This replacement hospital consists of 33,025 GSF with key programmatic components identified as: Records/Offices/Communal Space 5,100 SF, Clinic Area 6,050 SF, Pathology Area 2,465 SF, Research Laboratories 1,800 SF and Interior Holding 4,500 SF.
